This program is intended primarily for students who plan to pursue a career specifically in the area of casino operations. Applicants for positions in casino operations must have strong management skills to succeed in this labor-intensive, service-driven business, where regulatory requirements are strict and human interaction is constant.
Program Outcomes Upon completion of the program, the graduate should be able to:
- Think critically and analytically while processing information from a variety of sources
- Know how casino games are played and their terminology, and have a general understanding of gaming control
- Know and describe the basic organizational structure of a casino hotel, including the responsibilities and functions of each major department
- Understand staffing and organizational principles, accounting principles, procedural compliance, table games marketing, design issues, customer service, and table games protection
- Know loss prevention techniques, the equipment used for the protection of casino assets, and how to identify, deter, and detect casino cheats
- Identify places where gaming is legal and be knowledgeable of future trends of this growing industry
